GOLF

There were a lot of big story lines at The Quicken Loans National this past weekend. The first major story line happened before the tournament even started as defending champ Rory McIlroy announced he wouldn’t be participating in the tournament because of injury. Other story lines included another major young talent and one of the heavy favorites Ricky Fowler at the top of the leaderboard for most of the tournament until Troy Merritt shot a 61 on Saturday to take the lead which he would have the rest of the way. Tiger Woods looked very impressive for most of the tournament and had his best finish of the year.

The World Golf Championships – Bridgestone Invitational starts this Thursday in Akron, Ohio. GamerGrip ambassador Francesco Molinari will be playing in it as well as 74 other top pro golfers competing for that $9,250,000 purse. The only players absent in the top 50 are Rory McIlroy (ankle) and Chris Kirk (hand).

ULTIMATE

The Major League Ultimate Championship will be held this Saturday between the Seattle Rainmakers and the Boston Whitecaps. Boston has been the best team in the East all season long and was predicted to be in the Championship game. Seattle surprisingly upset the Portland Stags to make it to its first Championship game. Last year’s Champions and GamerGrip sponsored team the DC Current failed to make the playoffs this year.
